What Is Massage?
Massage is the manipulation of the muscles and other soft tissues of the body by using different techniques all for the purpose of relieving pain, promoting healing and improving physical function.
Main Benefits of Massage
There are many benefits associated with massage therapy. These include the following:
- Relieves pain
- Reduces anxiety
- Fights depression
- Improves sleep quality
- Provides muscle and joint pain relief
- Aids in injury recovery
Types of Massage
We offer an array of massage types at the practice:
This massage method is primarily used to address musculoskeletal issues, such as strains and sports injuries. Deep tissue massage involves the application of sustained pressure employing slow, deep strokes to target the inner layers of your muscles and connective tissues.
This method is beneficial in breaking up scar tissue that develops following an injury and decreasing tension in the muscles and tissues. Another benefit of this massage method is it may promote accelerated healing by increasing blood flow and decreasing inflammation.
As an expectant mom’s body goes through considerable changes during pregnancy, various associated aches and pains can develop. Prenatal massage is a drug-free way to help alleviate muscle aches and joint pain, reduce anxiety, decrease symptoms of depression and improve labor outcomes.
One of the most popular massage methods, Swedish massage is designed to relax the entire body by using long, gliding strokes. In addition to promoting relaxation, Swedish massage can help increase the level of oxygen in the blood, improve circulation and increase flexibility.
With this form of massage, fingers are used to knead individual muscles, increase blood flow and release trigger points, which are tight areas within the muscle tissue. By releasing those tight, constricted areas of muscle you can experience less pain.
Who can benefit from massage therapy?
Just about anyone, from children to seniors and every age in between, can benefit from massage.
How long are the sessions?
We have massage packages for 30-minute sessions and full sessions (60 minutes).
How should a new massage client prepare for the visit?
Massage is provided in a closed room, so the new client can feel comfortable.
Do I have to undress for my massage?
It’s up to you. You can disrobe to your level of comfort. Some patients choose to undress completely while others opt to leave some clothing on, such as underwear. You will be appropriately draped at all times during your massage.
What makes it different in your office?
Each massage is customized just for you and your needs. The therapist asks questions to help improve each session and to know how to adjust if needed.
How do massage and chiropractic care complement each other?
Massage warms up the muscles and relaxes a person’s body allowing your chiropractor to maximize their adjustment for optimal results.
Do I have to be a chiropractic patient to book a massage session?
No, you do not.
